U23 Minifootball National Championship 2024
The U23 Minifootball National Championship 2024 was a national-level competition created to bring together some of India’s emerging young minifootball talent. Held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the championship provided U23 players with an opportunity to compete against teams from different parts of the country and gain valuable experience at the national level.
The tournament brought together 10 teams from across India, creating a competitive platform for young athletes to represent their respective regions, test themselves against strong opposition and showcase their skills, discipline and understanding of the game.
A pathway to Team India
The championship also played an important role in the development pathway for India's U23 players. Performances during the competition provided an opportunity for talented players to be identified for the MAI Team India U23 squad.
The selected players were set to represent India at the WMF U23 World Cup 2024 in Croatia, giving the national championship an added significance beyond the domestic competition itself. For the participating players, the tournament was therefore an opportunity not only to compete for a national title but also to take an important step towards international representation.
Competition in Ahmedabad
Played in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the championship featured intense competition between the participating teams. The matches provided young players with valuable exposure to national-level competition while giving coaches and selectors an opportunity to assess emerging talent.
The tournament eventually reached its decisive stage with Gujarat facing DNH & DD in the final. Gujarat produced a strong attacking performance to secure a 6–3 victory and claim the U23 Minifootball National Championship 2024 title.
Tamil Nadu finished third, securing the bronze-medal position after defeating Mumbai in the third-place match.
Champions - Gujarat
Gujarat's victory marked the culmination of the championship and gave the host state the national U23 title. Their 6–3 final victory demonstrated the competitive quality of the tournament and capped off a successful campaign.
The final also provided a fitting conclusion to a championship focused on giving India's young minifootball players a national platform and an opportunity to progress within the sport.
Developing the next generation
